My Philosophy
I am commited to running my business in a way that is aligned with my own values. Therefore I would like to note that I do not work with organisations or retreat facilitators that run retreats proponing weight-loss, ‘detox’ or other restrictive dietary programs. My choice to offer only vegetarian and vegan meals comes from a place of wanting to limit animal suffering and tread lightly on the earth and to showcase the incredible abundance the land can offer us without eating animal products, and inspire guests to experiment in their own kitchens - not as a means of restriction. While I am an advocate of plant-based and sustainable eating habits, I recognise that feeding ourselves is extremely complex, and there can be many social, economic, educational, political, psychological and physical barriers to food access, and there is no one size fits all approach. I simply try to make what I feel are the most responsible choices in my cooking that are currently available to me, and encourage others to do the same, and come to the table with an open mind and a hungry belly!
I prioritise collaborators that are engaged in liberationary practises and am very happy to discuss making budgetary compromises for events that are genuinely rooted in community care, especially those creating spaces for marginalised communities. I am not interested in working with any facilitators that propone any form of biogotry, including transphobia.
